  • Solution Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Individual in-person sessions

Working in person makes for a deeper, trustful and stronger therapeutic relationship and provides a greater sense of psychological safety‍.

To protect your confidentiality, privacy and anonymity, I do not offer phone or Chat based therapy. (Live Text/ AI Chat bots/ Messaging)

the practical bits

For therapy to be most effective, we have weekly engagements. You may find you require time to digest and process in between sessions. Equally important is maintaining momentum.

Each therapeutic hour lasts 50 minutes. To protect your privacy and confidentiality, please do not arrive at the building more than 5 minutes prior to the start of the session. In the event of lateness of >20 mins, the session will not go ahead and will need to be rescheduled.

Cancellation policy: I require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. Monday session cancellations should be sent by midday on Fridays.

In the event of recurring failure to meet payment, discontinuation of the service needs to be considered.

Consultation calls

To agree how we can work together, I offer a free of charge consultation call. Please stipulate in your request (form or sms) when and how you are best contacted. Your confidentiality and privacy is paramount, so consider a time and place where you are not overheard or where your phone/email is not accessible to others.

Therapy commences with a first introductory session (50 mins), where we meet in person and you share your hopes and expectations.

What type of therapy do I need? This overview (click here) may help you decide on a modality. What do you feel most drawn to?

Do you work with children and young people? Yes, I work with 4-18 year olds as well as adults and have availability. Check out the YOUNG CLOCKHAUS tab.

Do you report back to my family, employer or others? Absolutely not, confidentiality is paramount. I work in accordance with the BACP’s Ethical Framework which lists confidentiality as key (more here). I elaborate further on confidentiality in our initial contracting.

How long should I be in therapy for? How many sessions do you recommend? You are in control over the amount of sessions you want or need. Everyone is different, it would be inaccurate to put estimates on this.

Do you work like Freud? The Freudian approach is psychodynamic but also analytical. I work with a humanistic approach, where we embark on a collaborative relationship, based on equality, not hierarchy. Click here to understand Humanistic approaches a little further.

Any therapies you do not offer ? I work integratively, including Humanistic (Gestalt, Person Centred, Existential), and psychodynamic modalities . For Children and Young people, I work creatively including play. Please note that I am not a CBT counsellor. I do not offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) work. I am not a couples counsellor.

Any online session? Where exceptional circumstances prevent us from meeting in person, I can arrange for us to meet online via GoogleMeet. As a rule, I do not offer online therapy .

Can I bring a friend, partner, family member? A strong 1-1 relationship is key, so 3rd parties are not brought in to sessions.

Q & A
